OUR SERVICES
When you are first greeted at the UC Irvine Department of Orthopedic Surgery, you will meet a healthcare provider who will assist in learning more about you. Our goal is to learn how we can help you get back to doing the things that you want to do. We listen and try to understand the issues related to your shoulder. It is important for us to learn what your goals and expectations are and why you cannot meet them based upon an injury or chronic pain involving your shoulder.
Dr. Gupta will perform a history and physical examination. If you do not already have them, we usually order x-rays to help assess the bones around your shoulder. Sometimes, additional imaging studies may be needed such as an MRI or CT scan to better appreciate the soft tissues and bony architecture. If you have a neurological problem, electrodiagnostic studies may also be required. Once a complete history and physical examination has been performed along with obtaining appropriate diagnostic testing, a diagnosis can be made.
The five primary diagnoses involving the shoulder include:
- Fractures
- Instability
- Rotator cuff pathology
- Adhesive capsulitis/frozen shoulder
- Arthritis
Dr. Gupta routinely performs numerous of these procedures and is facile with each and every one of these procedures based upon your needs.
